Zero Tasking?

Posted: August 25, 2014 in Uncategorized

I recently read an article that mentioned the concept of “zero tasking”. The author spoke highly of its positive impact upon productivity and overall quality of life. Needless to say, I was a skeptical. I mean, how does doing nothing make one more productive? Well, I gave it a try and found that it actually works! I began by taking short breaks, during the work day; just 5-10 minutes here and there. I would use that time to sit and do absolutely nothing. After doing this for several days, I noticed that I’d become less anxious about deadlines, paperwork and other work-related stressors. I was also more productive when I did engage in mono or multi-tasking. In hindsight, this should have been a “no brainer” for me. Many of us zip through our lives, from one task to the next, never really taking the time to stop and be still. Well, I’ve since found that a lot can happen within the stillness. I now “zero task” multiple times a day and I’m getting a lot more done! For those of you who’ve yet to try “doing nothing”, I highly recommend it!

37,500 mile service.

Well, it’s almost 9am and I’ve been trying my best to enjoy the very limited amenities of my local Mitsubishi service department (for about an one and a half hours now). I usually try to avoid bringing my vehicle in to the dealership,  but I like to do so every now and then, for “peace of mind”.  I mean, they are supposed to be the experts when it comes to my particular vehicle. And, every now and then, they do provide me with useful information regarding my vehicle, its warranty, etc. However,  I continue to harbor a love/hate relationship with dealer service departments. Why is it that I often feel that they’re over-charging me and/or suggesting unnecessary services? Am I just being paranoid or are my concerns rooted in truth? I guess I’ll never know for certain.

Monday!!!

Posted: July 21, 2014 in Uncategorized

Today is Monday and I am overjoyed! My elation is not due to the fact that I’ve recently won the lottery or have finally met my soul mate. I simply woke up this morning and CHOSE to be overjoyed! I chose to view the world as a wondrous and exciting place, where all manner of gifts can be showered upon me! This may sound  a bit crazy, but I’ve spent most of my life “walking on eggshells” and “waiting for the other shoe to drop”. My motto has always been, “If it wasn’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all!” I believe this is a quote from the great Walter Mosley. Well, I’ve been reminded of the fact that the universe simply provides you with what you are seeking. So, if you start your day expecting to be figuratively [or literally] spat upon, then you would be wise to purchase and keep a handkerchief, because chances are high that your expectations will be manifested. This is why I’m making the conscious decision to expect good things, today. Today, I choose to walk on sunshine instead of eggshells and hopefully, I’ll have the courage to make the same choice tomorrow.
